Electrician License Requirements in Florida

To work as a licensed electrician in Florida, you'll apply through the licensing authority, meet an experience requirement, and pass a licensing exam based on the National Electrical Code. Here's how it breaks down.

Florida has no statewide journeyman license. The state licenses electrical CONTRACTORS two ways: Certified (work anywhere in Florida) and Registered (work only in the local jurisdiction that licensed you). Journeyman cards, where they exist, are issued by individual counties and cities.
